Eurocucina, the International Kitchen Furniture Exhibition brought together the very best in kitchen furniture and accessories. The nearby event FTK (Technology for the Kitchen) gave visitors an opportunity to see the newest built-in electrical appliances. Also this year visitors were able to attend the International Furniture Exhibition, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, the International Workspace Exhibition (formerly EIMU), the International Bathroom Exhibition and the Salone Satellite, launch pad for young designers. Typical of Italian design the kitchen pictured here has a sleek, minimalist look. The appliances are hidden from view and the kitchen sink has no faucets. The water pours directly from the sink.
Interior Design for Private Jets.
Private jet travel is more in demand today than ever before in spite of sky high fuel prices. It is common for owners of private planes to charter them out during downtime to defray the cost of maintenance. Interiors of private jets were usually practical and efficient but more and more owners are tricking out their sky rides with all the amenities of their palaces on the ground including (You guessed it!) granite countertops in the galley.

The Stone Fence Cocktail
Take a pint glass, pour in 2 ounces dark rum. Add a few ice cubes and top it off with hard cider. Please remember to drink responsibly.
The Experts’ Opinion
It is a fundamental position of the Marble Institute of American (MIA) that there exists no such thing as a bad stone. There are however inappropriate selections for specific applications and unrealistic expectations of specific stones in certain applications. If you expect your natural stone to look pristine 5 years from installation then don’t put marble in your kitchen. If you think a patina that has been acquired with age gives the stone character then marble is an option for your kitchen countertops.
The Homebody’s Buddy
No matter how hard you work to keep your marble clean, it will eventually become dirty. You can use a soft, clean sponge with lukewarm water and a mild detergent to clean the marble. It does not take much water to clean the surface. Use a soft cloth that is clean to dry the damp marble, and then buff it gently until it is shining again. If the marble surface has become extremely dirty you may consider using a small amount of dry borax and a clean damp cloth. Always try a small spot first before applying to the entire piece.
Flying Piano Bars

First Lady Patricia Nixon christened the first Boeing 747 to roll out of the hanger in the early 1970’s. The first ever jumbo jet came out of production just as the U.S. went into deep economic recession. Air travel was down and the airlines were having problems filling the seats on the new “queen of the sky”. So savvy American Air Lines installed Wurlitzer Organ-Bars in the coach lounges of their 747’s to attract customers. Now that’s marketing!
