St. Cecilia Granite, Glastonbury, CT
St. Cecilia granite is one of the more popular granites used in kitchens. It's composite is a mottled granular look in shades of brown, golds, black and garnet. This Glastonbury project has a full backplash of porcelain tiles with milled St. Cecilia granite tile accents. Note the drainboard cut into the stone to the right of the sink.
The two tier penninsula is supported with hand wrought iron brackets from a local black smith. The rule of thumb for overhanging granite is under 8 inches no support is usually required but over 8 inches then some type of bracket or korbel will be needed.
