Creme Bordeaux - Granite Kitchen Countertops, Southington CT
This Southington homeowner went out in search of granite with a very fine, consistent grain. While visiting Elemar New England she was introduced to Creme Bordeaux granite. Love at first sight! Creme Bordeaux is a red Migmatite granite* with shades of green, reds, creams and gray which are perfectly compliment the cabinetry and hardwood floor. Custom details include a Butterfly Seam*(very custom!!), a heavy pencil edge detail and a double bowl stainless steel undermount sink.
* Migmatite granite can be described as a two phase granite. Lava has already penetrated the earth's crust and cooled forming the granite. Then a 2nd heating process literally melts some of the granite internally causing the melted stone to flow through the hardened stone.
* Butterfly seams are not a common feature and are difficult to make. The process involves using slabs that were cut to create mirror images of each other and then cutting identical sections so that when they are seamed, they form the butterfly.
